SHIPYARDS

CANTIERI DI PISA

CANTIERI DI PISA began building military and civilian boats in 1945 in Limite Sull ' Arno, a small riverfront town 30 kilometers downstream from Florence.
Limite had been renowned for its boat-building ever since the 1600s, thanks to the opening of the" NAVICELLI" canal in 1575, a project commissioned by Cosimo I De' Medici. Owing to the skill of its shipwrights, the town was known as the ''University of Wood". In 1956 the shipyard moved down to the Darsena Pisana on the Navicelli canal, where it is still headquartered. In those years the shipyard also built some large sailing yachts, such as Tyrsa, a 20 meter Ketch, and Kerilos, winner of the Giraglia race.
The shipyard became famous, however, between 1960 and 1970 with the development of a series of motor yachts named after celestial bodies like Pegasus, Saturno, Jupiter, Polaris,Kitalpha, all with classical wooden hulls and beautifully elegant. With the AKHIR series, which would become symbolic of the shipyard's production, CANTIERI DI PISA name became recognized around the world as a synonym for style and utmost quality.

BAGLIETTO

The history of Cantiere Baglietto accompanies the birth and development of the Italian boating industry to the point of dictating styles and trends and anticipating technology that would later become commonplace in Italy  and abroad.
Many sailboats that went on to dominate racing grounds have been launched from the beach of Varazze, the fishing village near Genoa where, in 1854, the ingenious Pietro Baglietto founded his boatyard. Then, between the two wars and in the 1950s and 1960s, came the motorboats which set speed records that lasted for decades. After WWII military vessels with state-of-the-art hulls were launched. The hulls would become the basis for the modern motoryachts, again with enormous success. As boating industry beacon for not only the Genoa region and Liguria, but for the entire country as well, Baglietto has always been "the boatyard of records" and has introduced highly advanced technologies and production systems employing all sorts of materials, from solid wood to marine plywood and aluminium. In Varazze they conceived one of the very first hydrofoils and the first stern drive propulsion was implemented. Prefabricated interiors were born here, as was the advanced, industrial use of marine plywood.
In the early 1980s Baglietto conceived the first high-performance aluminium megayacht, capable of surpassing 35 knots. It was Varazze again, at the beginning of the 1990s, that saw the launch of the first oversized open boat, about 29 metres in length.
Aside from technology, Baglietto's styling has conditioned the expressive language and design of motoryachts during the past fifty years. The series named after islands-Elba, Ischia, Capri, Minorca and Maiorca- and the ensuing "M" series of white motoryachts, made the Baglietto name famous on both the East and West Coasts of America as they successfully gathered growing consensus and orders from the most sophisticated and demanding clientele, ranging from the aristocracy to captains of industry.
With two production units, in Varazze and La Spezia, Baglietto is one of the largest Italian pleasure-craft builders, able to produce steel and aluminium yachts up to 150 metres long. Once again Baglietto's styling is setting the trend. Their line of 30 to 42-metre aluminium planing megayachts, the over 30-metre aluminium hard tops and the streamlined 40 to 50-metre steel displacement-hull yachts have introduced innovative ideas to their respective categories that are attractive, today as in the past, to the heavyweights of the world's economy.
